The Grasshopper & The Beetle
It had been an extremely hot summer’s day. Greg, a bright green grasshopper, was busy eating as usual. The meadow where he lived was full of lovely green grass and beautiful wild flowers. Slowly the day began to darken and the moon rose into the sky.
Greg, who was always hungry, just kept eating and chewing. He didn’t realise how late it was.
Down on the ground lived a beetle whose name was Barry. He had been asleep all day long. He woke up and, feeling quite hungry, went to look for his breakfast. Suddenly he saw Greg and quickly started to climb up the grass. Greg was surprised and, losing his balance, fell to the floor. Barry quickly ran down and started to chase him. But Greg was too quick and bounced high up in the air to escape. He landed far away on the ground and hid inside a thick grassy tuft. Barry was most annoyed. He couldn’t find Greg anywhere.
After a little while, Greg climbed up into the tall grasses and happily finished his meal.
Greg learnt a valuable lesson that night: ALWAYS EAT YOUR GREENS: THEY GIVE YOU ENERGY. If you don’t you might get caught by a beetle!
