Puppy Blue and Spider Sue

“Puppy Blue,” says Spider Sue, “Will you come out and play? We can go down to the park and stay there all day.”

“Spider Sue,” says Puppy Blue, “I’ll be there in a minute, let me finish this chore. I knocked over my drink, so I’m cleaning the floor.”

“Puppy Blue,” says Spider Sue, “Look what I’m wearing – aren’t they just neat? And look what they do when I jiggle my feet!”

“Spider Sue,” says Puppy Blue, “Woohoo! They’re great! And just look at those wheels! Do you know how to skate?”

“Puppy Blue,” says Spider Sue, “No, not really, but I’m willing to try, and if I fall on my bum, I’ll be brave! I won’t cry!”

“Spider Sue,” says Puppy Blue, “Eight shiny skates and eight hairy legs. Do you think you need kneepads? Let’s borrow Greg’s!”

“Puppy Blue,” says Spider Sue, “Don’t be silly! I won’t need those with my eight hairy legs and my eight hairy toes.”

“Spider Sue,” says Puppy Blue, “Well, okay, I’ll just sit here and wait, but if you need me to help, I’ll be here, I’m your mate.”

“Puppy Blue,” says Spider Sue, “Look, here I go, slow to begin with, now building up speed. My knees are all shaky. Oh, I’m going to sneeze!!”

ATISHOO!!

“Spider Sue,” says Puppy Blue, “Look where you’re going you’re starting to wobble. That sneeze didn’t help, look out for that……PUDDLE!”

SPLASH! THUMP! OUCH!

“Puppy Blue,” says Spider Sue, “Just look at my knees all scuffed and red. Oh, I feel a bit queasy – can I lie down on my bed?”

“Spider Sue,” says Puppy Blue, “Be brave, little spider, there are plasters indoors. I’ll just run and get them. Stay there on the floor.”

“Puppy Blue,” says Spider Sue, “Are they plasters with pictures? I like them a lot. Can I have that one all covered in spots?”

“Spider Sue,” says Puppy Blue, “Eight colourful plasters and eight hairy legs. What next I wonder, a bump on your head??”

“Puppy Blue,” says Spider Sue, “Well, practice makes perfect and I certainly will, but I will not be silly and skate down a hill.”

“Spider Sue,” says Puppy Blue, “But for now you should hold on to me, and next time we play we can go and climb trees.”
